Description
For investors and operators of PV systems the energy output (Wh) is the most important parameter. To address this need, many producers and research institutes have set up long-term module outdoor measurements facilities. The resulting data can be used to assess energy yield in relation to actual operating conditions, as well as providing a basis for models to predicting energy yield.
The JRC's European Solar Test Installation (ESTI) operates an outdoor module performance measurement facility (the ENRA facility) at its site in Ispra (Italy). It has measurement points for various modules, and several variables are registered. The work reported here came about as a result of a request for outdoor performance data from the SOPHIA European PV Research Infrastructures Project, in which JRC is participating. The data was to be used to validate the performance of various energy yield models implemented by SOPHIA partners.
