Photovoltaics is the fastest-growing technology for electricity generation from renewables and is set to play a significant role in EU’s energy market. While the EU value chain is in a good position regarding polysilicon manufacturing, backsheets, contact materials, inverters and balance of system components, wafer, cell and solar glass production require development of new capacities.
