Description

The analysis shows technology development of Na-ion, redox-flow, Me-air and zinc based batteries, as well as fast growth of battery applications market, especially for EVs, but also stationary energy storage. It also points a growing EU share in global production, very fast commercialisation of Na-ion chemistry lead by mainly Chinese companies and expected growth of less expensive chemistries in the coming years. However, despite growing EU production, there is a fast growing trade deficit in this sector. Other KPIs like price evolution, patenting and scientific publishing trends, R&D&I funding, turnover, employment, global and EU technology leaders, and finally sustainability, are presented and discussed.
