Prior to the conference, a high-level SET Plan Steering Group meeting (by invitation only) will take place on 3 November, bringing together high-level representatives from the Ministries of Energy and the Ministries of Research and Innovation.
Also on 3 November, the Commission organises an Interactive Workshop (by invitation only) dedicated to scaling up clean energy innovations under the SET Plan together with the European Technology and Innovation Platforms Forum (ETIP Forum) and the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA).
The workshop marks the first step in an ongoing dialogue between clean-energy investors and the SET Plan community, bringing together clean-energy experts nominated by national ministries, as well as research and industry representatives from the European Technology and Innovation Platforms (ETIPs), Implementation Working Groups (IWGs) and European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) Joint Programmes.
The workshop aims to explore how the SET Plan community can better support the market uptake and scale-up of clean-energy innovations by addressing investors' expectations and investment requirements.
It has three main objectives:
- Understand: What do investors look for when assessing the potential of clean-energy innovations for investment and scale-up?
- Reflect: What are the implications of these investment criteria and expectations for the work of SET Plan actors (ETIPs, IWGs and EERA Joint Programmes)?
- Identify: What concrete actions could the SET Plan community take to better address investors' information needs, evidence requirements and investment conditions?
The workshop aims to identify practical recommendations and shared priorities that can inform the SET Plan community's ongoing work, particularly the elaboration of the Common Implementation and Investment Plans (CIIPs), including the Investment and Implementation Commitments (IICs). It also seeks to establish a basis for continued dialogue between investors and the SET Plan community on financing the market uptake and scale-up of clean-energy innovations.
The Irish EU Presidency is also organising site visits to showcase Ireland’s achievements in clean energy on the afternoon of 5 November.
