The FP7-Euratom project NUGENIA-PLUS, with the support of the Nuclear Generation II & III Association NUGENIA, one of the three technology pillars of the Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP), launched a Pilot Competitive Call for Research Proposals on September 22. There is a total of EUR 2.6 million in funding available under the call, and the deadline for submissions is November 28, 2014.
According to information on the SNETP website, proposals selected in the call shall demonstrate a clear impact and added value to NUGENIA in terms of on-going work on relevant technical areas, cross-cutting technical issues and the optimisation of resource and equipment use in Europe. There will be a key focus on projects that improve safety, increase public awareness on nuclear energy related issues, or deal with plant lifetime management and new build construction.
In line with FP7 Euratom rules for Collaborative Projects (CP), participants from EU countries plus Switzerland and International European Interest Organisations are entitled to funding. Participants from third countries may receive funding in exceptional cases, but these are judged on a case-by-case basis and the European Commission cannot guarantee in advance that funding will be awarded.
Projects may be submitted through the new CALL+ Platform, developed by NUGENIA under NUGENIA+. This is an online project submission platform that allows both NUGENIA members and non-members to submit their projects to restricted and/or open calls managed by the NUGENIA Association.
