5th UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event (31 May-2 June 2017) will focus on science & skills for renewables integration

The UNI-SET project is organising the 5th UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event, taking place at KU Leuven (Belgium) on 31 May-2 June 2017.

UNI-SET is an FP7 Coordination & Support Action implemented jointly by the European University Association (EUA) and KU Leuven, representing the universities in EIT InnoEnergy.

Objectives of the 5th UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event

The Energy Clustering Events seek to mobilise the European university community to tackle the energy challenge by fostering exchange and collaboration between researchers, educators and other stakeholders, framed by the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) and the Energy Union.

The event at KU Leuven is the fifth event in the series of six Energy Clustering Events scheduled in 2016 and 2017 to discuss and stimulate the development of innovative research and education programmes in the energy field, throughout all SET-Plan and Energy Union R&I priorities.

The overall goal is to strengthen inter-university cooperation. The event will offer insights into innovative programmes and approaches from a multidisciplinary perspective through examples, lessons learnt and other best practice. The conference will also offer specific opportunities for “clustering” knowledge, in which research and education leaders from different disciplines will present their views on the specific priorities of the SET-Plan.

The event forward the activities outlined in the “Roadmap for European Universities in Energy” published in December 2016. Through the event, participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions on the development of new paradigms in energy higher education and research in the specific field of renewables integration.

Call for Contributions

EUA and the UNI-SET consortium have launched a Call for Contributions welcoming proposals for contributions for parallel sessions in form of good practices from university projects and initiatives (more information on the event`s website. Deadline for submissions is Friday, 7 April 2017).

Registration is free of charge and will close on 15 May 2017. Please note that attendance to the event is limited. Places will be allocated on a first-registered, first-served basis. More information on the event website.
