About the IWG
The Renewable fuels and bioenergy Implementation Working Group (IWG), or IWG 8, focuses on bioenergy and renewable fuels for sustainable transport.
Sustainable bioenergy is key to:
- reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the EU energy mix
- decreasing fossil fuel dependence
- building a circular economy.
The IWG8 monitors the progress made on the targets set in its implementation plan. This is done in cooperation with SET Plan countries, industry, academia and the EU institutions.
The IWG8 is supported by the SET4BIO, an EU financed coordination and support action project. The European Technology Innovation Platform (ETIP) Bioenergy and European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) Bioenergy also support IWG8 activities.
Targets and objective
The IWG 8’s targets and objectives include:
- improving the production performance of advanced biofuels and other renewable liquid and gaseous fuels
- addressing GHG performance and cost.
Composition of the IWG
The IWG8 comprises representatives of the following countries:
Country
---
Austria
Belgium
Finland
France
Germany
Italy
Netherlands
