Smart district heating and cooling

Smart district heating and cooling (DHC), as a cross-cutting R&D field, includes the R&D issues of heating and cooling technologies based on different energy sources, such as thermal energy distribution and storage, energy efficiency issues on the demand and supply side, as well as the support of ICT and interactions with other energy grids.

This Thematic Research Summary (TRS) provides an overview of innovative research results relevant to ‘smart district heating and cooling’ (DHC) – demand and ‘smart district heating and cooling’ – supply. The TRS aims to provide a structured review of research activities relating to smart DHC being carried out in Europe, both at EU level and as part of nationally funded programmes.
