Deep Geothermal Energy in the European Union

EU electricity production from deep geothermal remains at a low level, but the outlook for heat production in district heating is more promising with strong growth.  The EU maintains a strong position for R&D, for both Enhanced Geothermal Systems for wells, and on innovative solutions for heating & cooling in urban environments and for high temperature storage.
