Methodology

SETIS has developed a common assessment framework that treats each technology on a fair, transparent and consensus-approved basis. This assessment framework is the supporting analytical tool for the Technology Map and will evolve as additional capacities are required. The main assessment criteria used by SETIS for the selection and development of such tools are the following:

  1. capacity to analyse under a common framework, a diverse and large technology portfolio;
  2. comparative and integrated approach with the main capacities on energy technologies in Europe and beyond;
  3. transparent and ready-availability of the models and tools used;
  4. recognised scientific robustness and existence of an active community of users.

Highlights

SETIS LIBRARY: TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION SHEETS: For a complete  overview of all low-carbon energy technologies, read or download the SETIS Technology Information Sheets. They provide a snapshot of each technology’s installed capacity, ongoing R&D, barriers, needs, a ‘fact file’, infographics and more.

Announcement: Download the 2011 Capacities Map report, which provides an estimate of the current corporate and public research and development (R&D) investments in wind, PV and CSP in the EU-27.
